The entire known world exists inside a great tree, known as the tree of life. Within the tree of life are the seven realms, separated into the branches, the roots, and the trunk. In the branches are the three upper realms, home to the angels, the elves, and the faeries respectively. In the roots are the three lower realms, home to the demons, the dwarves, and the gremlins. Lastly, there is the trunk, resting place of the middle realm, and home to us humans.
Now, ever since the great war between the upper and lower realms, no one has dared to cross into the mortal realm. Still, they’re there, and the portals to their worlds haven’t closed. Really, it’s only a matter of time until the worlds unite again, and when they do…
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Next you’ll tell me Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are real.”
“But they were! Santa was an elf, and-”
“Stop. I don’t care. Now, if you don’t mind, I have more important things to do than listen to a crazy old coot. See ya.”
As the young man walked off, ol’ “Crazy Talk” Jenkins hung his head. Why would nobody listen? It was only a matter of time until the realms came together again, and not a single person was doing anything to prepare!
He was getting more and more worried, and the strange shadows he’d been seeing lately, weren’t helping…
A note from the
authorninja:Well, here we are. The prologue to Homesick. Feel free to skip this bit if bores you, but I thought it would be fun to put a little extra note at the end of each (admittedly, quite small) chapter I write. On the topic of the chapter though, the prologue doesn’t really tell you much. I’d love to let you know what to expect from the story here, but I think you’re better off just waiting to see for yourself in this case. The first chapter will be tomorrow, so you shouldn’t have to wait long.
